Types Of Retail Surveillance Systems

There are many types of surveillance systems but mainly there are four types which are used most widely. These include CCTV, IP surveillance, Body worn surveillance cameras and Biometric surveillance.

CCTV
Closed Circuit Television. These uses video cameras for surveillance. They transmit a signal to a certain location on a limited set of monitors using a device called DVR which manages all the transmission, recording and saving of video data. CCTV is entirely different from broadcast television because in CCTV signal is not openly transmitted.
IP Surveillance
Internet Protocol Surveillance cameras are being installed these days at many locations. These cameras record videos over internet protocol and do not require the use of films. These video recording are directly stored to a drive or the cloud.
Body Worn Surveillance
These are the cameras which are worn over the body. These are mainly used by the law enforcement but some retail companies have also started using them for loss prevention applications.

Remote Monitoring: Surveillance in the retail now a days is not only restricted to the stores, warehouse or house. These CCTV cameras or biometric surveillance systems can be operated and managed from some remote place away from the retail stores or companies. This reduces the chances of robbery by bulling and hijacking the stores for some personal interest like demanding government for some illegal or unconstitutional actions. The lesser number of people will be required to manage the stores and thus reducing the chances of criminal activities. Remote monitoring will help you to take immediate actions like calling the police or locking all the doors of the warehouse or store automatically by security and threat prevention mechanism.
